In May 2017, Ronan Loughnane from Cistercian College, Roscrea, Co. Tipperary, was inspired to give back. After he and his father took part in the CROSS Rugby Legends Cycle, Ronan and his Transition Year classmates decided to fundraise for CROSS, running a series of initiatives — including car washes — to raise money for cancer research.

We are enormously grateful to Ronan, his classmates and the teachers at Cistercian College for raising such an impressive amount. Dr Joanne Lysaght accepted the cheque on behalf of the charity and spoke to the students about the cancer research carried out at Trinity College and St James’s Hospital — research made possible by the generosity of supporters like them.
