As part of Science Week (November 2019), a ‘What Science Means to Me’ event took place at Holy Child School, Killiney. Students listened to presentations on our research, took part in experimental demonstrations in biology, physics and chemistry, helped our PhD students communicate their science to a lay audience, and contributed artwork and feedback on the event.

Student feedback

“My favourite part was the experiments and talking about the jobs.”

“My favourite part of this event was when we did the workshops, with all the different parts of science. I thoroughly enjoyed the workshops and I learnt lots.”

“I really enjoyed the experiments during the event. They really encouraged me to study science when I leave school.”

“I liked the presentation — they didn’t just tell you what was happening, they showed you.”

“I liked how we were doing different things the whole time and it wasn’t boring. Most science I do in school is very boring and uninteresting, whilst this workshop opened my eyes to STEM and how much I didn’t know.”

“My favourite part was all the experiments and learning about Chemistry, Biology and Physics.”
